As you’re working through your change communication plan, it’s important to remember that each employee group will be impacted differently. While some employees may only need to understand what’s happening around them, others may be required to change how they work.

As you identify different stakeholders by impact, make sure your plan has targeted strategies to address each group. For example: When a pharmaceutical company made changes to its performance management process, the stakeholders who were significantly impacted—HR business partners and managers—participated in workshops to build deep knowledge. Employees, who needed to be aware of the changes were provided with an overview map to explain key components of the change.
