Cheryl Ross, Senior Project Director at Davis & Company, and Daren Jennings, Vice President of Interact, hosted a webinar on enhancing digital channels in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Communicators strive to keep their newly remote workforces engaged,” said Cheryl. “Many are turning to digital communication tools as a method to reach employees close and far, wired and unwired, young and old. These systems can be a hub for networking, information sharing, community building and more during these uncertain times—but only if they’re founded on a smart content strategy.”
During the webinar, Cheryl and Daren shared six ways to build a content strategy for your digital platform that will drive employee engagement, including:

  • Understand what your employees need
  • Define clear goals based on those needs
  • Create compelling content
    • Make it useful, give employees exactly what they need, capture attention, recognize success and drive personal connections
  • Get leaders involved
  • Hire a community manager to drive conversations and connections
  • Develop and share standards

Regarding how to get employees’ attention, Cheryl shared some insightful advice: “You need to provide content that employees really care about. Your first step should be to talk with HR, so you can understand who your employees are. Then, you’ll know what your employees are interested in.”
