Strengthening the communication function
Establishing or enhancing a communicators' network
In many global complex organizations today, responsibility for employee communication is spread across different groups, from Internal Communication to HR, from corporate to divisions, from headquarters to regions.
The result? Communication can spin out of control: there can be too much in some areas, too little in others. Employees may feel both overloaded and underinformed. And communicators find they're working in isolation, without access to important information, internal best practices or support for big initiatives.
The solution is to form a network that brings communicators together to solve problems, develop skills and build a community of practice. We've worked with a number of companies—including Chase, EMBARQ, Rogers and Wyeth—to help communicators work together more effectively. Our services include:
- Developing a purpose for the network, including objectives and a charter
- Deciding on criteria for membership and defining roles
- Designing how the kick-off session and other meetings will be structured
- Facilitating network meetings
- Conducting learning sessions on a variety of employee communication topics
- Assisting subteams in their efforts
- Managing ongoing network activities
